The six-semester course “Bachelor of Education in German” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. During the program, students acquire the basics of the subject German in its individual subject parts as well as its elementary work equipment and techniques and deepen their knowledge in linguistic pragmatics, communication, literary history, genre theory, media and cultural studies. The bachelor degree expands the linguistic knowledge in a historical perspective while graduates also gain comprehension in the history of literature along with development of the German language and its dialects from the early Middle Ages to modern times.
