The study course “Master of Arts in German Studies” is with a duration of four semesters in total, and offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. The aim of the course is to impart methodological skills and historical knowledge, theoretical knowledge and practical skills, taking into account the tradition and diversification of literary culture, whose background is the media evolution from the Middle Ages with main focus on the ability to grasp complex issues, to examine them critically, to reflect on them in connection with other issues and to present them in accordance with the specific requirements of a scientific argumentation and deepen their language skills, in particular mastery of scientific terminology, and broaden and deepen their knowledge of German culture.
