Offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, the program “Master of Education in History” is with a total length of four semesters. The history course is primarily based on dealing with texts in the form of sources and scientific literature. The prospective students obtain an understanding of History in-depth and develop a strong interest in dealing with language while gaining the ability to read and analyze complex texts precisely, methods of formulating texts and linguistic accuracy as well as analytical thinking and argumentation. Graduates learn how to deal scientifically with history in order to theoretically reflective and methodically controlled research into the past. During their studies, the participants deepen their already acquired knowledge in the bachelor degree and acquire the ability to gain information independently and efficiently, to penetrate it analytically and to process it in a problem-oriented manner.
