Description
Offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, the international Master study course “Master of Arts in Sociolinguistics and Multilingualism” is with a total duration of four semesters. The program deals with the topic of the scientific and social discourse of European multilingualism on the local, national and EU-wide level. The aim is to train a new generation of sociolinguists who have acquired a scientific and practical understanding of the parallel use of different languages in Europe and who have expertise in the social dynamics and the cultural, political and socio-economic impact of multilingualism in Europe. In order to achieve this goal, the focus of the program is on imparting a new understanding of multilingualism with a special focus on European multilingualism using the example of the Nordic and Baltic countries.
