“Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with a total length of six semesters.  The course aims to impart the basics for recording and representing linguistic diversity from various theoretical and empirical perspectives. Students obtain strong linguistic theoretical skills, linguistic knowledge and communication skills while the bachelor provides to the participants the knowledge of basic structural properties from several disciplines involved in order to develop language skills for language comparison. The course also imparts in-depth structural knowledge of a linguistic focus from one of the disciplines involved in order to create the basis for in-depth study of a language and at the same time to support the acquisition of communicative skills through structural background knowledge.
