With a duration of four semesters, the program “Master of Arts in Media Culture Studies” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. The research-oriented program is primarily based on the reciprocal relationship between culture and media, according to which every culture shapes its media formations and all cultural processes fundamentally formatted by media. Based on the broad concept of media, the course conveys theoretical, historiographical and methodological knowledge and trains students in the reflective examination of current specialist discourses as well as society-wide debates at the interfaces of art, society, science and technology and also provides access to interdisciplinary media and cultural theory content and problems.
