The program “Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with a total duration of six semesters. It explores the sub-areas of philosophy including metaphysics, ontology, hermeneutics, epistemology, logic, ethics, aesthetics, philosophy of language, philosophy of history or philosophy of law where participants are able to deepen their knowledge and receive the guidance for successful independent scientific work.  By analyzing the conditions and requirements of thought und cognition as well as humankind’s place in the world the course also explores important philosophy questions such as how ethical and moral norms can be put into place and justified and how the human life can meaningfully be shaped.
