Offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz the two-subject degree program “Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese” is with a total duration of six semesters. The program focus falls on the Portuguese language in its historical development and as a current language system, the literatures of the Portuguese-speaking world and, within the framework of cultural studies, the cultural conditions in the Lusophone countries in their respective historical and social contexts. The modularized course of study is divided into seven modules total which include language acquisition, oral and written communication as well as Portuguese language, literary and cultural studies.
