Provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz the course “Master of Education in Protestant Religious Studies” is with a total length of four semesters. By aiming to deep the knowledge already acquired in the bachelor degree, the practical theology provides a methodical theory for ecclesiastical fields of action, in which the current conditions of ecclesiastical actions are considered by taking into account the methods used in non-theological sciences such as sociology, psychology, education, rhetoric. Participants also explore the current cultural phenomena with regard to its latent religious content while the focus area of the subject is based on the different ecclesiastical or ecclesiastically-motivated fields of action and is largely summarized under the main focus areas of homiletics and religious education.
