The four-semester degree program “Master of Music in Sound Art Composition” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. It is targeting students who seek to enhance their artistic competencies in the area of sound art composition. The degree program is based on the latest developments in the intermediary concept of music and art with the trends in new music, electronic composition, sound art, audio-visual art, and radio arts along with the development of surround sound and sound installations as well as performative concepts and medial representation. Graduates of the master program will be able to work as independent artists with their own artistic voice, in museums, galleries or major festivals or in other professional settings, such as media and media production as well as consulting and conceptual design for projects.
