“Master of Education in Sports” is provided by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with duration of four semesters. The master degree focuses on topics that provide a theoretical basis for teaching and prepares the participants for teaching in a school environment while conveying basic and advanced exercise skills with the necessary teaching skills. Students acquire the basic and advanced knowledge, skills and abilities in the subject, as well as the motor and teaching skills. Throughout the program, the students are able to acquire sports and exercise-specific skills in selected fields of sport and exercise, enabling them to perform exercises to the required standard with strong specialist knowledge that enables them to teach and reflect exercise learning situations, to justify the practicing and application of sports and exercise skills from a scientific sports perspective in order to encourage responsible actions with regard to exercise, games, and sport. “Master of Education in Sports” provides strong knowledge of methods in the field of sports science with an understanding and awareness of problems, topics and theories of social and educational research approaches in sports science as well as the approaches used in the teaching and research of exercise.
