“Master of Arts in Turcology” is offered by the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz with a total length four semesters. The linguistics modules consist in the acquisition of structural knowledge in a Turkic language or alternatively a Mongolic or Tungusic language, depending on the concrete course schedule a seminar on linguistic theory and methodology such as various sub disciplines like typology, dialectology and language contact, historical linguistics grammar and more. During the research-oriented seminar students obtain the specific working techniques in domains like field work, transcription, corpus linguistics, or quantitative methods. The entirely English-taught program offers also an elective module where the prospective students have the possibility to put emphasis on a specific Turcological focus or to strengthen their methodological, theoretical and practical skills.
