The Church University of Wuppertal/Bethel offers the PhD program “Doctor of Diaconic Science” (Dr. diac). This PhD course stands for the scientific qualification of executives in organisations of the social economy, church and institutions of the Diaconia and Caritas. The main purpose of this course is to educate the students in 6 main fields: Basics of Diaconia Management Theory, Management and Organisational Theories, Development of the Interdisciplinary Diaconal Science Program, Doctoral Project, Theological Discourses in the Diaconal Science Context and Ethical Discourses in the Diaconal Science Context. This course is a combination of six semesters and it is overall amounted to 15,000€. There are also examination fees of 3,000€, which need to be paid due to the dissertation deadline. The admission requirements consist university degree or three years of management experience in companies in the social economy, Diaconia or Caritas.
