At the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, there is the degree program “Bachelor in Architecture”. It takes six semesters and gives 180 credit points. Pre-study internship is highly recommended. An aptitude test will be performed for admission. The team of academics and practitioners who execute the teaching believe that Architecture is a matter of lifelong study, so the degree is the foundation of it. The essence of the course is the combination of artistic, technical, economic, social and communicative core competences. Individual, studio and team work, as well as design projects, are the form of teaching and learning at HTWK. Travels and study abroad, and foreign languages, give the degree its international dimension. City and landscape investigation and intervention form the practical and social relevance of the course. Lifelong critical competence and transferable skills are developed in discussion seminars. The degree finishes with a bachelor’s thesis.
