At Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, there is a possibility to study a “Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Science” degree. It continues for seven semesters and brings 210 credits. A practical semester is scheduled for the fifth semester. Not only information science and library management will be included in the studies, but also knowledge from related disciplines, like business management, information technology, pedagogy, history, through lectures, seminars and project work. Individual profiling happens from the fourth semester onwards. Accumulating, assessing, conveying and communicating information, as well as helping build the sustainable growth of libraries and information-focused institutions, are the core skills imparted. The HTWK gained reputation by possessing a long-standing tradition of librarian training.
