The “Bachelor of Arts in Museology” at Leipzig University of Applied Sciences has a duration of seven semesters. It provides specialist training in all the functions that museum work entails – collecting, preserving, exhibiting and conveying items, with the due historical and technical preparation for these tasks. Handling of objects professionally, database creation and maintenance, inventories, are also essential for the core content. An internship in a museum of one’s choice, as well as an independent project work, culminating in the bachelor thesis development, are the way to practically test and apply the imparted scientific content. Individual modules can be elected further on in the course as specialist disciplines. Museum pedagogy and education are also a valuable side to these bachelor degree studies.
