The study program “Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video” offered by Merz Academy located in Stuttgart provides students with comprehensive preparation for artistic or creative careers in time-based media, specifically film and video. The course of study`s main concentration is on the analysis and acquiring of film`s creative and technical processes, as well as electronic and computer-based audiovisual media. This is based on thorough analysis of time-based media history and theory, as well as art history and cultural theory. Students get practical understanding of digital video technologies as well as experience in production planning and development through workshops and exercise. The hands-on course gives participants knowledge into the professional working worlds of time-based media. Lectures, courses, and field trips expand understanding of film idea, funding, and production in television and cinema, as well as in the context of art.
