Description
Geodetic Engineering is a scientific field of study that is primarily focused on the surface of the Earth. Geodetic Engineering uses precision instruments to gather physical data and then process and analyze it. The main aim of Geodetic Engineering is to analyze the size and shape of the Earth and understand all processes connected to the Earth, like tides, crustal deformation and earthquakes, for example. Geodetic Engineering degree programs teach a number of subjects which most commonly include Geodetic Infrastructures, Statistical Analysis in Geodesy, Special Measurement Systems and Techniques, Remote Sensing, Image Analysis, Geophysics, Geoinformation Technology, Geodata, Measurement and Evaluation and more. A degree course in Geodetic Engineering teaches students how to apply theoretical and practical knowledge in order to solve geodetic problems, collect data, process and analyze it, examine environmental issues, and understand measurement procedures that are used in catastrophe prevention and management. Students in Geodetic Engineering are provided with the opportunity to develop important professional skills like project planning, time management, use of alternative methods, critical thinking and problem solving. Potential careers for Geodetic Engineering graduates include consulting, research, land management, surveying, cartography, geoinformatics and others.
