 At Nürtingen-Geislingen University of Applied Sciences there is the MBA degree course “Master of Business Administration in Applied Quantitative Finance”. It is a part-time, four-sememster program of financially relevant preparation. Subjects and disciplines include financial modelling, financial engineering, data analytics. After completing the Master’s thesis in the last semester, students acquire the MBA degree in Applied Quantitative Finance, whereas before that they could also complete stages of the curriculum and be issued for Certified Financial Engineer or Financial Modeler certificates. The degree undertakes to meet the knowledge gap between finance and IT, a combination which is extremely needed in present-day companies. Big data, machine learning, AI, blockchain have become the buzzwords of corporate digital transformation, and the degree course promises to make these and the purely financial concepts familiar for and applicable in graduates’ later career.
