The Church Examination at the Lutheran Theological University in Oberursel is designed for students preparing for the pastoral ministry in the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church (SELK). The program spans 12 semesters and covers foundational theological disciplines, including Hebrew, Greek, and Latin, alongside various other theological subjects. Students also complete internships in church congregations and diaconal settings. The curriculum focuses on deepening theological understanding and practical pastoral skills. Upon completion, students take the First Theological Examination, qualifying them for the next stage of pastoral training, known as the Vikariat.
