Offenbach University of Art and Design, founded in 1832, is a public school of art seated in Offenbach, Hesse. It provides study opportunities to approximately 500 students in two schools: the School of Art (subject areas: Communication Design, Media, Art, Stage Design, Costume Design), and the School of Design. The ten-semester study program (in Art/Design) is divided into a four-semester basic studies period and a six-semester main studies period. Each program leads to a Diplom-Designer/in degree. The study program in Art, with a special focus on experiemntal research of new possibilities and contents, prepares students for professional activities in the fields of Applied Design and Fine Art. Studying at the School of Design teaches students how to develop skills in the field of Product Design, taking into account aspects relating to the manufacturing or consumption process as well. Moreover, Offenbach University of Art and Design also provides opportunities for postgraduate and doctoral studies.
