Osnabrueck University offers the degree program “German – Teaching at Grammar Schools” for 6 (Bachelor) and 4 (Master) semesters, with studies beginning in the winter semester. The language of teaching for this course is German. Literature and linguistics are separated at the University of Osnabrück and encompass the whole range of German literature and language. Students will study German literature from many periods and genres, as well as text interpretation, German grammar, spelling, and first and second language acquisition, as well as mediaeval and early modern literature. This degree prepares graduates to enter the preparatory service (legal clerkship) and thereafter to work as a teacher in the school service.
