Osnabrueck University offers the degree program “Islamic Religion – Teaching at Primary Schools”, beginning in the winter semester and the language of instruction being German. Islamic education and upbringing in the setting of a non-Muslim majority society is the focus of this course. For the most part, this course is devoted to a thorough study of the Quran and prophetic tradition, as well as the foundations of religion and Islamic law. Arabic language is also taught to candidates during the course of study so that individuals have a better understanding of Quran and Sunna. On the other hand, interreligious viewpoints at the school as a site of learning are the focus of research. Stages of the course are broken down into smaller chunks to make it easier to follow along.
