Osnabrueck University offers the degree program “Islamic Religion – Teaching at Grammar Schools”, which begins in the winter semester. In a non-Muslim majority community, Islamic theology focuses on the past and present of Islam, as well as Islamic education and upbringing. Quran Studies and Prophet Tradition; Faith Bases and Islamic Law are the theological subjects at the basis of this field of study. Because of its importance in addition to German's exegetical comprehension of the Koran, Arabic is the beginning point for religious instruction in the original language of the two primary Islamic texts. Islamic religion is largely a topic of study for those who wish to teach Islam as a religion. The course is organized in stages and is taught in German language.
