“Islamic Religion – Teaching at Lower Secondary and Secondary Modern Schools” is offered at the Osnabrueck University in the German language, teaching the basics of Islam, the prophetic traditions and the Islamic law among other topics. Throughout the course of study students also study the Arabic language through which they receive a better understanding of the Holy Quran and Sunna. Focus is on religious education and topic didactics in the context of schooling, including interreligious viewpoints. A bachelor's degree and a master's degree are the first two steps in the program. After graduation individuals can work as a teacher in secondary schools.
