The degree program “Latin – Teaching at Grammar Schools” can be undertaken at the Osnabrueck University for 4 semesters. The language of instruction is German and studies begins with the winter semester. There are also particular didactic seminars and lectures that focus on teaching Latin language, literature and culture in grammar school Latin classes. Course objectives include acquiring a thorough understanding of Latin language and literature, as well as critical analysis of works. The attention extends to the history of classical philology in the 19th and 20th centuries as well as the classical philology of today. This degree prepares students for entry into the preparatory service and eventual work as a teacher in the school system.
