Description
Osnabrueck University offers a doctoral degree program in “Law”, which begins in the winter and summer semester, with classes taking place in the German language. The standard duration of this degree is 6 semesters. Graduates with the doctorate of laws can conduct research in any area of law, while also participating in events that support their progress and allow them to complete a doctorate within reasonable timeframes. There are several professorships and institutes in the department that are involved in the course and this is part of a larger initiative to promote young talent. In addition to the course, the department has developed a model for promoting new talent that spans specific professorships and institutions, allowing the doctorate candidates to network and be supported in their research. Students can learn new methods to legal study by conversing with supervisors and other PhD candidates. As part of the doctorate program, students have the opportunity to take a variety of normal courses from the four profile areas, as well as doctoral seminars and colloquia, as well as workshops and other activities.
