Osnabrueck University provides the three-year training program “Psychological Psychotherapy” to become a psychological psychotherapist, with an emphasis on behavioural treatment for adults. Prior training in a scientifically accepted kind of treatment is a requirement, as is several years of experience. Theory and practise are closely linked in the continuing education course. Scientifically, the practical experience gained on the job and throughout the course itself is constantly being commented upon in the scientific community. Clinical practise is the most important element of the psychotherapy postgraduate program. This program helps students to become licenced physicians by having them work in a psychiatric clinic and perform outpatient treatments under careful supervision in an outpatient clinic for adults in the advanced level of additional study. In addition to working independently in a psychological practise, additional options include implementing psychotherapies on your own or guiding other professional groups in advisory and therapeutic work areas.
