The full-time six-semester study program “Bachelor of Science in Applied Geography’’ at RWTH Aachen University deals with the many different aspects of geography. This discipline focuses on physical geography, anthropogeography, regional geography, as well as a wide range of geographical methods used in defining the forms and processes of the Earth’s surface. Students who choose this study program will begin with their practical experience right from the start of their studies thanks to the multiple field exercises that feature soil sample analyses, mapping, statistic analyses, as well as the many excursions offered within Germany and to some of the neighbouring countries offered throughout the semesters. Some of the modules that participants will study are Geomorphology, Climatology, Soil Geography, Biogeography, Spatial Planning, Agricultural Geography, and others. The practical and quantitative orientation of the Applied Geography course offers a wide range of career prospects for graduate in numerous fields both domestically and abroad. Graduates can seek employment at companies in the private industries, e.g., site management, marketing, real estate, tourism, city management or others, public administrations such as spatial and urban planning, environmental management, nature conservation planning, etc. or be self-employed.
