The degree program “Master of Science in General Mechanical Engineering’’ at RWTH Aachen University provides a scientific, research-oriented three semester long full-time course of studies. The program’s main goal is to train students who are interested in becoming mechanical engineers in all technical fields. During the first two semesters, students will acquire a solid basis of engineering knowledge mainly in mechanical engineering that includes studies in natural sciences, technology development, and engineering methods. In the third semester participants will have to work independently on a research topic and finish their Master’s thesis. Students will be also able to choose from five different specializations: Medical Technology, Microsystems Technology, Simulation Technology, Fluid Power Technology, and Materials Engineering. Graduates with a degree in General Mechanical Engineering will be able to pursue various job opportunities in any technical field in the research, development, production and distribution sectors of the industry.
