Offered by the Saarland University the study course “Master of Arts in Border Studies” is with a total length of four semesters. During their study, the prospective students are able to develop a comprehensive understanding of borders as well as debordering and rebordering processes in Europe. The trilingual master degree teaches the students important concepts and methods applied in the study of border regions while understanding the current debates on border issues from both spatial and geographical point of view as well as from a linguistic, cultural, and sociological perspective. During the course, students have the opportunity to select from Spatial studies or Language and cultural studies while the program also offers an excursion and undertake a case study in the field of cross-border relationships and cooperation in order to deepen and consolidate the knowledge in the chosen area of specialization.
