“Master of Arts in European Cultural Studies” is offered by the Saarland University with duration of four semesters. The interdisciplinary course consists of very broad range of fields in order to develop and sharpen the student’s personal academic profile. Depending on the choice of specialist areas, the graduates are able to pursue practical and applications-based approach or choose to take an academic and theoretical area. The master degree provides basic and in-depth language skills in central European languages, insights into the culture of the target countries and linguistic skills in the structure and function of the relevant European languages with introduction to theories and methods of literary and cultural studies. By also providing an insight as well as in-depth comprehension of various target cultures and their basic historical and current types of text including types of text such as digital and visual texts, films and music graduates also obtain historical knowledge, fundamental scientific questions and methods as well as historically based judgment skills.
