With a total length of four semesters the advanced program “Master of Arts in German as a Foreign and Second Language” is provided by the Saarland University. It prepares students for teaching German as a foreign and second language while the focus is also on dealing with people from different countries of origin. The content explores the interface between system linguistics, didactics and cultural studies where students learn to design learning goals and to use different didactic and methodical procedures for structuring German lessons while learning to analyze the language use of their students and identify language and culture-related teaching and learning problems.
