The six-semester course “Bachelor of Arts in Language Science” is provided by the Saarland University. By imparting both central theoretical and methodological skills in the theoretical and practical linguistics area, the prospective students explore computational linguistics, phonetics, language processing and the translation as a whole while acquiring advanced written and oral skills English and optionally in Romance languages. The program provides to the participants basic skills in phonetic transcription, experimental phonetics, prosody and in the analysis and description of speech production along with speech reception processes while also conveying the mathematical, semantic and grammatical principles of machine language processing and central knowledge of the structure, function and use of German, English and at least one Romance language.
