The four-semester degree program “Master of Arts in Literary, Cultural and Language History of German-Speaking Regions” is offered by the Saarland University. Students are able to choose between research and practice-oriented focuses and study subjects such as synchronous linguistics, old German literary and linguistic history, literature and culture of the early modern period, Austrian literature, culture and more. Graduates learn about three different research traditions, research traditions and acquire a strong intercultural competence and have the opportunity to combine courses with a different focus. Depending on the focus, the master's program prepares the participants for career in academia, publishing, media and communication, cultural institutions, libraries, adult education, or teaching profession.
