State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, founded in 1761, is a public school of art with university status seated in Stuttgart, Baden-Wuerttemberg. Accomodating round about 900 students, it ranks among the largest higher education institutions of its kind throughout Germany. The Academy breaks down into four subject groups, namely Fine Arts, Architecture, Design, and Art-Related Studies Conservation. The Academy’s scope of studies includes the study programs “Architecture“ (B.A./M.A.), “Industrial Design“ (Dipl.-Des.), “Communication Design“ (Dipl.-Des.), “Textile Design“ (Dipl.-Des.), “Fine Arts“ (Diploma in Fine Arts), “Art Education“ (BFA/M.Ed.), “Stage and Costume Design“ (Diploma), “Intermedial Design“ (MFA), as well as “Conservation and Restoration“ (Archaeological, Ethnological and Decorative Objects, Paintings and Polychrome Subjects, Works of Art on Paper, Archives and Library Material, Wall Paintings, Architectural Surface and Stone Polychromy, Conservation of New Media Neuer and Digital Information). In addition, the Academy offers the postgraduate “Meisterschüler“ program “Weissenhof Programme of Fine Arts“. State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart has the right to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degree.
