Provided by the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, the “Master of Music in Early Music” is with a duration of four semesters. Participants obtain artistically advanced mastery of a diverse repertoire of works of early music and extensive competence in questions of style and performance. During the course, graduates are able to form abilities in design of ensemble literature of early and new music with the technical basics of an instrument of early music and strong knowledge of the relevant repertoire in order to understand the compositional methods of polyphonic music. Students explore the historical musicology with in-depth examination of music-historical phenomena in exemplary work and acquire the ability to independently examine and evaluate musical sources in a cultural context with their transmission and distribution.
