Offered by the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, the degree program “Master of Music in Organ Improvisation” is with a duration of four semesters total. The course provides a broad range of comprehension of typesetting and analysis, instrumentation, editing practice and composition with methodical teaching of improvisational techniques and knowledge and skills in ensemble playing, theory and arrangement. Students explore in-depth basic questions and historical developments in the field of social history and sociology of music and acquire the ability to deal independently with aspects of the social contextualization of music. “Master of Music in Organ Improvisation” enhances the hearing ability in style-specific characteristics of music from thematically limited subject areas through exercises, hearing analysis and sound perception including methodological issues.
