STH Basel offers a doctoral program in “Theology”. This study program with a duration of 3 years aims to give further opportunities for academic work in research and teaching. The admission examination is a process of proving theological judgement and language skills of the participant. The doctoral candidates work on a dissertation project, starting with an exposé and collection of materials, leading to a drafting of a manuscript. Participants attend lectures and seminars in addition to yearly colloquiums where they present their thesis and receive insights from professors. The doctorate gives you the qualifications to work in the fields of science, teaching, church and congregation, politics, culture and media.
