Materials Science and Materials Engineering is an academic field of study which is primarily focused on the properties and applications of materials mainly used in construction, such as metals, plastics, ceramics and glass. Materials Science and Materials Engineering is very important because it provides understanding of nature and use of various materials, which in turn helps to develop stronger, cheaper, more efficient and sustainable concepts. Materials Science and Materials Engineering degree programs are interdisciplinary and are based on the principles of physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering, and generally teach subjects like High Performance Materials, Composites, Renewable Energy, Mechanics of Materials, Electronic Materials, Mechanical Systems Design, Manufacturing Processes, Design for Innovation, Computational Mechanics, Electrical, Optical and Functional Materials and more. A degree course in Materials Science and Materials Engineering gives students not only broad knowledge of theory, but also the chance to develop strong professional skills, such as the ability to solve engineering problems, detect issues, design products, analyze materials’ properties and apply different optimization techniques. Materials Science and Materials Engineering graduates can pursue careers in engineering, product development, technical sales, quality assurance, damage analysis, materials research and other fields.

For this program, a general higher education entrance qualification or university of applied sciences entrance qualification is needed. Knowledge of German Language is also provided.
