The extra-occupational university certificate course „Cyber Insurance Manager” at the Technical University of Cologne is with a length of 300 hours, of which 164 hours presence and online and approx. 136 hours for self-study, exams, project work and exam preparation. The course conveys all the important aspects of cyber insurance in a practical way with a focus on technical backgrounds and understanding IT forensics, underwriting and product design in connection with cyber risks. Students are taught how to identify cyber risks and classify and evaluate them based on different characteristics, distinguish reasonable from unreasonable cyber risks and draw up guidelines for underwriting those risks, assess the legal effects of cyber risks and recommend legally justifiable courses of action to the relevant decision-makers and more. Admission requirements include a university degree (e.g. insurance, business administration, law), or a commercial degree and relevant professional experience (e.g. insurance salesman, businessman for insurance and finance, insurance specialist).
