Offered by the Technical University of Dortmund the course “Bachelor of Arts for Teacher Training in Chemistry (General Schools, Intermediate Schools and Comprehensive Schools) is with a duration of six semesters. By focusing on the fundamentals of biology and physics and on the sub-fields of chemistry such as inorganic, organic, physical chemistry as well as didactics of chemistry the course also includes a laboratory experimental work. In addition, during the integrated practical semester, students are able to apply the skills they have acquired in everyday school life, analyze their experiences and reflect on them. The practical laboratory work aims to conform the theoretical knowledge with experiments and to teach how to safely handle equipment and chemicals during experiments.
