Offered by the Technical University of Dortmund the degree program “Bachelor of Arts for Teacher Training in Cultural Anthropology of Textiles (Grammar Schools and Comprehensive Schools)” is with a length of six semesters. Uniting aspects of scientific, didactic and design the study course explores fashion, textiles and clothing in past and present. It provides both scientific and cultural research of the materials, techniques and functions of textile in a well-founded oriented manner. The program puts a special emphasis upon topics of consumer history, textile history, visual culture, fashion and media, textiles in art and architecture, clothing and many more central fields of research. Graduates are well-equipped with the necessary foundations in cultural anthropological and the cultural anthropology of textiles mediation.
