“Master of Arts in Empirical Multilingualism Research” is provided by the Technical University of Dortmund with a duration of four semesters. Students are firstly consistently introduced to research methods along with empirical and experimental methods while dealing with complex topics of multilingualism from a linguistic perspective. Important topics of the course include the acquisition of multilingualism in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, unregulated and controlled language acquisition, processing of linguistic structures under the conditions of multilingualism as well as social perspectives on multilingualism and others. The program identifies multilingualism by its mean, explores the social and educational effects of multilingualism within a society and more. During their study, participants complete a compulsory, research-related internship either full-time or part-time with the opportunity is to explore potential professional fields.
