The study course “Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Studies” is offered by the Technical University of Dortmund with a duration of eight semesters. The program is practical-oriented with a strong focus on multimedia. By providing empirical comprehension in all types of media, whether online, social media, television, radio or print and students familiarize themselves with editorial processes while acquiring both journalistic and team skills in practice.Taught both in English and German, this study courseprovides an overview of the essential scientific approaches and procedures in journalism with the basic knowledge from the field of theories of science andtheories of social and communication science. By developing a critical understanding of the fundamental economic conditions and restrictions of journalistic activity, participants become able to derive their own professional strategies and courses of action in journalism.
