Provided by the Technical University of Dortmund the study course “Bachelor of Arts in Science Journalism” is with a duration of eight semesters. By combining important journalistic skills such as in journalism research, ethics, media law, newsroom as well as interview training the course provides also with knowledge in a second subject. Students can choose between medicine and life sciences, physics, technical journalism or data journalism while learning to assess scientific developments. The course provides with comprehension in basic structural and economic conditions of journalistic activity and students familiarize themselves with dynamic production process and research techniques, especially for social media. Students gain an understanding of how the scientific landscape as a whole is structured and participants become able to work independently on a complex task from the field of journalism within a given period of time.
