Provided by the Technical University of Dortmund the degree program “Bachelor of Arts for Teacher Training in the Special Education specialization Vision (Grammar Schools and Comprehensive Schools)” is with a length of six semesters. The course emphasizes principles of visual perception, functional diagnostics of vision and neuroscience. Alongside with conditions in blindness and different visual perception, the course also reflects on the intervention of children with blindness and visual disabilities along with the issues of vision loss. Students of this course acquire the competencies in early teaching with both special education subjects and foundational components of theory and practice of rehabilitation. If graduates successfully complete the Bachelor’s degree, they are able to pursue a Master’s degree, where an internship is also included for solid practical acquisition.
