The degree program “Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering” offered at the University of Kaiserslautern is designed to provide comprehensive engineering education for students interested in mechanics, thermo-fluids, manufacturing, as well as controls and automation. Complex mechanical systems involve structures, advanced materials, sensors, and thermo-fluid systems. Participants are exposed to a core engineering discipline through the study and application of the principles of engineering to a range of systems, ranging from nano-devices to large-scale power plants. Laboratories and industry-led projects prepare future graduates to create the next generation of ideas and products. The course of studies aims to develop partnerships with industries, government agencies and other academic institutions. Students who choose to continue further with their education in this field can graduate with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and find employment with energy companies, consulting engineers, or the maritime sector. Graduates can also be employed in a development department as development consultants, team leaders, product coordinators, or researchers.
