The seven-semester interdisciplinary study program “Bachelor of Engineering in Wood Engineering” offered by University of Applied Sciences in its location in Hildesheim provides an education about wood and its usage. The first semester has an introductory character and then students need to choose a specialisation area – either structural timber construction or furniture and interior finishing. The first one is related to building and bridges construction, whereas the other revolves around development and creation of furnishings. Students work on many practical tasks in small groups. Incorporated to the program, there is also a practical semester, working as engineering assistant. Graduates are qualified to take on management positions in timber frame construction, timber engineering, quality management, etc.
