The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) was founded in 1997 in the canton Ticino as a public university and is one of the nine higher education institutes recognized by the Swiss Confederation. At present, the university offers 30 Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Around 4,000 students are enrolled in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The university has four departments: department of Environment Constructions and Design, department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care, department of Innovative Technologies, and department of Education and Learning. With its practice-oriented education SUPSI is offering to its students constantly evolving study courses in fields like Architecture, Construction and Design, Social Work, Music Theatre, Engineering, Health, Business Management, Teacher Training and Information Technology. In addition, SUPSI is also offering a part-time course in Upper Secondary Education that upon completion provides a diploma. The language of instruction is Italian, but some lessons may take place in English, German, or French.
